About Me |
Growing up in Austin Texas, during the 1970's was an adventure. Living in Barton Hills, most of my time was spent at Barton Creek, especially during the summer time. I have always enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife lifestyle, ever since. Attending Barton Hills Elementary, O. Henry Junior High, and graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1981. During summer breaks, I would help my sisters husband, install flooring from the age of 12. I started off into the construction trades, after high school graduation. First as a framing carpenter, cabinet maker, painter, concrete, you name it I did it, for 5 years, and one day got a call from one of my brother-in-laws old apprentices, needing help to install some flooring, he had contracted. The rest is history. It must have been my unknown destiny. 1989 off on my own, I started working for Floor King, here in Austin, as a retail installer. I soon moved up the ladder in a short time, to the preferred installer and soon the warranty technician. I was responsible for fixing all the mistakes of the other installation crews, working for Floor King. Stressed out from consumers always mad, when I had to be called to their homes and businesses to fix what should have been done WRIGHT the first time, I soon looked elsewhere for employment. 1994, Aaron's Interiors was in it's infancy and needed someone to help build his business with craftsmanship. I went down the same road with him too. Lead installer, landing accounts, to warranty tech and let the hacks install it, Perry can fix it. in 2001 I had to leave Aaron's Interiors, because I was being exploited as a subcontractor, when I was obviously employed. 2001, I drove to Oklahoma City, to become involve with The International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association, know as CFI. Leaving, Certified as an Expert Floorcovering Installer, I am held to higher standards then I could provide, working as a retail subcontractor, where every aspect of the project was dictated how it would be done, regardless if it were done to industry standards and requirements. I decided to market my Certified Installation services directly to the consumer. Providing unmatched quality & service. 2003, a unique opportunity came my way in the form of a Certified Inspection Class. Inspector Training Services for Floor Coverings(ITSFC), Certified me after the class, and slowly began receiving inspection requests, for carpet & resilient flooring investigations. I found my calling. Inspecting and investigation, attracted me, to need more. 2004, An opportunity can to take a wood science class with industry known Howard Brickman, of Brickman Consulting. Howard has been Bob Villa's consulant for many years, helping on Bob Villa's TV programs. After the intense class and hands on education, we could take the National Wood Flooring Association(NWFA) Certified Inspector test. A 350 question closed book test!!! I became NWFA Certified, as a wood flooring investigator. |
